We have a new Organising Team for 2008.
If you were at the Club Dinner you will have seen the names on the big screen but I’ll bet you didn’t take notes so here are the Team members for you to memorise:
Chief Organiser: Val Ravenhill
Chief Judge: Tim Greenway
Park Organiser: Steve Hesketh
Signing-on Organiser: Ken Gregor
Chief Caterer: Sue Palmer
Master of Ceremonies: ???????????
Deputy Chief Judge: ????????????
You also need to make a very careful note of the dates for the 2008 races:
Saturday 29 March 2008
Saturday 12 April 2008
Saturday 26 April 2008
Each member of the Organising Team will be looking for helpers on each day (it needs a total of about 15 helpers per day). So check out your new 2008 diaries (get someone to buy you one for Christmas) and get your name in as a volunteer. Don’t forget, the events can’t run without you!!
Also, as you can see, there are two organising roles not filled yet so if you would like to have a go at either of those (for one or more days) or would like to know more, please get in touch with the Chief Organiser, Val Ravenhill.
There is a topic on the Forum(Racing) about Victoria Park 2008, so if you have any questions you can post them there. Keep a watch on that topic for news and chat about the races and organisation.
This year the traditional New Year walk will actually be on New Year’s Day. For the many new members, this is a gentle walk for all Club members and families/friends, around the fields and woods near Haseley. It’s a great way to blow away some cobwebs and work off a few mince pies. Be there
or be somewhere else
The walk starts at the Ravenhill house at 10am prompt and returns there for drinks and snacks. Please bring any Christmas food left-overs for the table (cake, biscuits, savouries etc.). Tea/coffee provided.
The walk will be about 2 hrs long and probably muddy, so boots/wellies needed. (Chairman’s warning: “last year waders would have been good”).
Contact Lance or Val for more details.
Have a great Christmas
Jon Stephenson and Dave Kirby tackled the notorious L’Eroica this year. If you didn’t go to the Club Dinner (or even if you did) and would like to know more about the ride you can read Jon’s personal account. Just click “more” and you will see the whole story in Jon’s own words. It’s quite a long tale (Jon does go on a bit) but well worth the read.
